Van Persie has endured a difficult tournament from a personal point of view. Having only recovered from an elbow injury in time for Holland's opener, he has scored just one goal. It is believed he finds it difficult playing alongside Holland's star players Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder, but last night he spoke of the team spirit that has carried the Dutch to their first World Cup final since the losses in 1974 and 1978.
He added: 'I don't know about previous sides but what I know about this team is that it is unbelievable.
'If you put a camera inside our hotel you would see us playing table tennis, we are making jokes, everybody is talking to each other.
'When you have a group of players where half of the team is not talking to each other, you are not going anywhere.'
